Fishing

Lunksoos is half a mile from the confluence of Wassataquoik (Wah sa' ta cook) Stream and the East Branch of the Penobscot River, where an August 2007 study by Midwest Biodiversity Institute found plentiful landlocked salmon and brook trout. In the East Branch of the Penobscot River where Lunksoos Camps is located, you can fish for landlocked salmon, and brook trout. There is also bass, and there is no limit on bass because it competes with the other fish.

Bring a boat or borrow our canoe and we'll drop you off so you can drift down the river and enjoy a great day on the water, or enjoy walking and fishing along the river bank.

State of Maine

Landlocked salmon and brook trout

Here's what Maine's Dept. of Inland Fisheries has to say about our location:

The "East Branch of the Penobscot River, from Matagamon Lake to the confluence with the West Branch...offers a myriad of fishing experiences throughout the system, from fly fishing for brook trout and landlocked salmon in the upper reaches to spin fishing for bass in the area below Whetstone Falls."

Canoe/Kayak Transport
